Even though there doesn't seem to be any toilet paper, for some reason we have plenty of toilet paper rolls lying around the house! And a lot of egg cartons too. So if you're stocking up on TP and eggs (like I guess we have been) we wanted to share a few fun art projects from The Squirmy Wormy blog that you can do with the kiddos... and a little bit of creativity!
Project 1: Egg Carton Bugs
My kids are obsessed with snails lately, and they look for them in the garden every night before bed. So with all of our empty egg cartons, we had to make some egg carton snails, as well as every other bug we could think of! This project is so easy to do, and you can collaborate and help with the harder parts depending on how old your child is.

Googly eyes
DIRECTIONS

Cut up the egg cartons into different lengths and trim so they are neat around the edges.

Let your little one paint all the cups - it's easy enough for them to do and you can help get the corners if needed.

Add the pipe cleaners, googly eyes, glitter, pom-poms - anything you want! Make these little critters come to life.

And of course take them into the garden to play afterwards!
Project 2: TP Easter Bunnies
With Easter around the corner, this is a nice quick project to get some decorations up on your walls fast! I found it easier to prep the toilet paper rolls the night before so they were ready to go (and the glue could dry to hold them together).

Empty toilet paper rolls

Tempera Paint

Paint brushes

Cotton balls

Construction paper

Glue

Markers
DIRECTIONS

Cut the toilet paper rolls in half. Bend two of them so they are shaped like ears. Glue them to a third piece, and secure with tape while drying.

Give each child a piece of construction paper. Let them paint the edge of the TP roll with white paint and press on to the paper. As many times as they want! If they want a body too, they can use a round roll and apply as well. Let dry.

Draw on a face, glue on a cotton ball tail, and draw a nice scenery with markers, crayons or colored pencils!

Mount the finished work on more construction paper for artwork ready to hang on your wall!
Project 3: Egg Carton Flowers
This is a really pretty springtime projects for all ages. You can make into a simple picture, or even a picture frame if you want to get extra creative! I know we have a lot of artwork on the walls that could use a nice frame, or even a cute pic of your kiddos in the garden would be sweet (in their roshambo shades of course)! ;)

Cut up the egg cartons into little cups and carve out petals a bit if you can (it can be time consuming, so do ahead of time).

Let your little one paint all the cups - it's easy enough for them to do and they don't have to be perfect! As we always say, there are no art mistakes. :)

While the cups are drying, cut out different shape and colors of leaves and prepare a frame or paper to glue them to. I mounted construction paper on cardboard so it would be sturdy enough to handle the heavy egg cups and glue.

Paste down the leaves and cups all over you paper, and create your springtime garden!
Project 4: TP Flowers & Fireworks
Another pretty springtime project to brighten up your living rooms! Take all those empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls and turn them into flower and firework stamps. Easy enough for all ages!

DIRECTIONS

Cut the toilet paper rolls down the length of the tube into different shapes, petals, spikes and curves. Bend back and flatten.

Give each child a piece of construction paper. Let them paint the cut end of the TP roll with paint and press on to the paper. As many times as they want!

After dry, decorate and touch up with glitter, markers, gems or anything that fits the scene you're trying to create!
