Roshambo Shades at Autism Tree Beach Family Day

We recently had a chance to team up with David Ellen Advertising and Toyota to provide Roshambo Shades for all of the kids and the San Diego Junior Lifeguards at the 7th Annual Bridge to the Beach Family Day with Autism Tree Project Foundation. What a great event for a great organization!

"The Bridge to Beach event went VERY well! There were 30 participants plus their families and the kids LOVED the sunglasses."

Bridge to the Beach Family Day

Autism Tree Project Foundation (ATPF) and the San Diego Junior Lifeguards partner together every year to host the Bridge to the Beach Family Day in Mission Beach.

It's a family beach day where kids with autism can surf, boogie board, build sandcastles and more! Every child will be paired with an ATPF Volunteer or San Diego Junior Lifeguard as their buddy to practice water safety and activities.

If you would like to participate in this event in the future, or one of ATPF many other family events, contact RebeccaB@autismtreeproject.org or visit their website www.autismtreeproject.org.

Supporting Autism Charity with Every Sale

As you may know, Roshambo Shades proudly support the autism charity, Surfers Healing, with a portion of all of our sales. They take kids with autism and their families out for a day of surfing and confidence building... it's all about what these kids can do, not what they can't.

We were very excited to support ATPF's Beach Day as it reminded us so much of the support we provide to Surfers Healing and their special events with families! We can't wait to continue to support both of these organizations (and others) in the future.

You can learn more about Surfers Healing and their events at surfershealing.org

About Surfers Healing

Surfers Healing's mission is to enrich the lives of people living with autism by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing.

Though we serve thousands, that mission exists because of one child. Israel and Danielle Paskowitz founded Surfers Healing because of their son, Isaiah. Isaiah has autism, and when he struggled with meltdowns and sensory overload, riding the waves with his father calmed him like nothing else.

Not everyone has a championship surfer for a Dad (bummer!), so the Paskowitz family invited others to join them at the beach. Their idea caught on, and now we're a nationwide, grassroots non-profit organization. We're the original surf camp for children with autism, and we offer all our events free of charge.

Yet even though we had 4,500+ participants at our surf camps last year – and even though autism now affects 1 in 68 US children – we don't think in thousands. We think in ones, because that's where we can effect change. One child. One family. One day at the beach.
